Scientific Components are specialized viewers that open scientific files inside your workspace. You can inspect a molecular structure, explore prepared single-cell data, inspect a microscopy slide, examine supported spatial imagery, or compare a sequence alignment alongside your conversation. Use a viewer to inspect an existing file. Ask Purna in chat when you need to create, transform, or analyze data. Opening a viewer does not start a scientific analysis.

Available components

Structure Viewer

Open a supported molecular structure from Files or a chat attachment to inspect it in 3D. Rotate, pan, and zoom without leaving the workspace. The Structure Viewer guide lists supported formats, compressed inputs, controls, and limitations.

Spatial Omics Viewer

Explore processed H5AD, prepared AnnData-Zarr archives, and supported OME imagery. Available views depend on your data: opening a file does not calculate embeddings, normalize expression, or align images with cells. The Spatial Omics Viewer guide covers supported files, automatic preparation, cell selections, personal labels and notes, saving, agent assistance, limits, and troubleshooting. Agents can work with your shared files and selections for analysis, statistics, and scripts, but cannot view the graphics or slides in the viewer. Keep a human in the loop and review their work.

Slides Viewer

Inspect supported microscopy and whole-slide images, zoom into tissue, adjust available image channels, and save personal rectangles or polygons with names and notes. Use Use in Chat to share a selected region with a conversation when you are ready. The Slides Viewer guide covers supported files, the 500 MiB limit, automatic preparation, working with regions, agent assistance, unsupported inputs, and troubleshooting. Agents can help with selection data, analysis, statistics, and scripts; they do not share your live view. Inspect the slide and verify their work yourself.

Sequence Alignment Component

Inspect prepared multiple sequence alignments, navigate individual sequences, change residue colors, and highlight alignment regions. Single or unaligned FASTA records use a sequence preview; opening them does not calculate an alignment. The Sequence Alignment guide covers supported extensions, preparation, controls, selections, preview limits, agent assistance, and troubleshooting. Selections are temporary and are not automatically attached to chat. Share readable sequence identifiers and coordinates when asking an agent to analyze a region, and review its work yourself.

Open a scientific file

  1. Upload the file to Files, or attach it to a conversation.
  2. Select the file to open its preview. Purna chooses the viewer from the supported file type and, where required, prepared metadata.
  3. Inspect the file in its workspace tab. Switch between the conversation and open files as you work.
You do not need to select or install a visualization library. Unsupported files remain available to download where uploads are accepted; upload support alone does not guarantee a native viewer.

Files and viewing state

Your original file remains the source of the preview. Viewing it does not overwrite its contents. Some components prepare a supported file for viewing automatically. This does not perform a biological analysis or change the original data. Each viewer handles camera positions, selections, and saved changes differently. The Spatial Omics Viewer can save personal settings and cell annotations for supported datasets saved in Files, and lets you explicitly attach a selection to chat. The Slides Viewer saves personal regions, notes, and supported display settings, and lets you explicitly share a selected region with chat. Other viewers may keep interactions temporary. Opening a viewer alone does not share its current selection with an agent. See each component’s guide for persistence behavior and size limits.
